My Thoughts: Colourpop Supershock Eyeshadows

Hear my thoughts (that are so long overdue) on the Colourpop Supershock Eyeshadows! I will also talk about some tips for application and longevity of the eyeshadow itself.

THE PRODUCT ITSELF

The eyeshadows retail for $5 USD each on Colourpop.com, which is a smoking deal. The Super Shock formula is very unique to Colourpop because it's not your average eyeshadow. To describe the formula, it's a cream that dries down to a powder. Touching it with my fingers for the first time was an experience because it was coldish. The Super Shock formula comes in 6 different finishes: Matte, Satin, Pearlized, Ultra Glitter, Metallic, and Ultra Metallic. They are vegan and cruelty free for anyone that was curious or only use vegan/cruelty free products.

The Super Shock Shadows I will be discussing about are the following:
  • Brady  //  Matte Finish  //  Pink, Neutral Shade
  • Arrow  //  Ultra Glitter Finish  //  Orange/coral, Red Shade
  • Paradox  //  Satin Finish  //  Red Shade
  • Lightning Bug  //  Ultra Glitter Finish  //  Gold, Neutral Shade
  • Amaze  //  Ultra Glitter Finish  //  Gold, Pink Shade
  • I <3 This  //  Ultra Glitter Finish  //  Silver

SWATCHES

These shadows swatch so beautifully! Such fun fall colors that remind me of the Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy palette. These pack a nice little punch of pigment when swatching with the fingers. They're very pigmented when swatching with the fingers and provide a nice color payoff.

PERFORMANCE

I absolutely love the metallic shades, the ultra metallic shades, and the ultra glitter shades because they provide a fun pop of color or shimmer to the lids that looks simply stunning. In one of my recent looks on my Instagram (@glammunition), I used the shade Amaze on my eyelid with the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette matte shades in my crease, and it was so pretty. My family loved the glittery look on the lid. There will be a little bit of fallout (but not much) when using a glittery shade, it's just inevitable. But the fallout was from application and not the wearing of the product; it honestly stayed put and looked amazing. The matte shades are pretty too but because of the formula, it locks in place and does become somewhat more difficult to blend out but it can be done. I do love these for pops of color on the lid or to use as an inner corner highlight.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS

For application purposes, I do recommend listening to what Colourpop suggests. Applying with the finger will have more payoff but on Colourpop.com, they do have suggestions on the best application possible! I will provide some links to have direct access to their recommended application methods. Scroll down to the bottom where the product information is, that's where their suggestions are!

Also, make sure you shut the lids real tight. You have to treat the product as if it was a cream product even though it really isn't a cream formula. They do remind you when you purchase the product to seal it tight to prevent any drying out.

If you're looking for something that has great longevity or have a friend that loves really out there makeup, this is perfect. Some are hit and miss but that is typical with Colourpop as a brand, make sure you just read the reviews before you get them. Honestly though, I will be buying more of these in my future for pops of glitter, cut crease looks, inner corner highlights, and much more. Plus the price of $5 USD is amazing, especially for the quality of the eyeshadow and the longevity of some of the Super Shock Shadows.

OVERALL

It's a great gift for someone getting into makeup but also for the experienced gals that know the in's and out's of makeup. Also a perfect stocking stuffer for the upcoming Christmas! Like I mentioned before, I loved the metallic and glittery shades and anyone can use them. The finger application was the best method for me when it came to the glitters. The mattes did need some work but they still were super pretty on the eyes. One of my favorite shades I used was Amaze but I also really loved the shade I <3 This. Super pigmented, great payoff, and minimal glitter fallout! I recommend this product for anyone who loves a pretty glittery look or a metallic finish. If they're willing to put in a smidge more work, then get them a great, 5 star rated matte shadow. The price is fantastic to try one out to see if you like it. I would recommend!

Sephora vs Ulta: Which Do I Prefer?

Read about my input as to which I prefer and why! Chances are, if you live by a Sephora, you live by an Ulta.  The two stores are quite similar when it comes down to what they offer: a wide option of makeup brands that vary in price to tailor to your needs. However, if you've been in both store before, you notice the obvious differences. LOCATION Starting off with location, Sephora's are typically in a mall (or at least every one I've been in is) and it's lethal to my bank account. My Sephora is located right across from the Starbucks and the Chick-fil-a in the center of the mall and it stares at me every time I walk by, and of course I walk in. There's only one Sephora in the Oklahoma City Metro, making it very crowded. I try to avoid the magnetic pull of Sephora when it's the weekend because my feet are always getting stepped on by people or getting rolled over by a baby stroller. It's inconvenient in my opinion and bothers me during my shoppin

My Thoughts: Beauty Reviews in the Beauty Community

I'll be discussing what I think about makeup reviews within the beauty community and my advice for product research! Makeup is truly a wonderful thing because one product doesn't work out well for one person but is another person's "holy grail" product. Once that person has a response to a product, some will review them (like me) to an audience on social media on whether it was good or not.  People do this to create a rating balance for a product because real people  want to know if a product is worth it or not. What I mean by "rating balance" is the ability to review every feature of a product from poor to exceptional fairly and getting an average star rating of it. People want to know if the quality is good, if the pigmentation is there, if it's travel friendly, so on and so forth.  My current makeup collection. I've researched numerous of reviews before purchasing the products I've bought! I think for some time, a lot of p

My Thoughts: Too Faced

Hear my thoughts on whether I think Too Faced is overdone with some of their products or is overdue for some new products! Too Faced is a widely known for their child-like makeup with chocolately and other candy-like scents that take you back to the days you used clear anything flavored Lip Smackers gloss as a little girl. Too Faced swiftly became famous for it's Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, as they blended beautifully into the skin and gave you a sunkissed glow while smelling delicious. The rest is history. Now we reflect on the very successful brand in present day. Chocolate Bar Palettes, Chocolate Bon Bon Palette, Melted Chocolate Lipsticks, Sweet Peach Palette, you name a food and the palette will probably smell like it. Certainly their iconic scents have reeled in a lot of consumers to buy their products because they offer something more unique than the rest of the brands out there. But let's talk about the products. The original Chocolate Bar Palette dropped in
